CRYSP DC

For over a decade, CRYSP has been making space to play. Started by a group of parents who saw the need for more high-quality playing fields in their neighborhood, CRYSP advocated for converting underutilized parking lots into playing fields. As a result, Events DC built what is now The Fields at RFK.

Our vision is to be a community megaphone, advocating for more recreation space throughout the DC metro area with a clear brand, mission and well-funded mandate. We will be a leader that organizes and articulates the community’s need for recreational space. To do so, we manage The Fields with a firm eye toward inclusivity and we enroll area youth in sports programs facilitating scholarships and providing personal equipment.

We are still working to create more opportunities for sports and recreation around the District. Our mission includes us engaging high need communities in the creation of safe, high-quality spaces for sports and recreation by exploring potential projects in Kenilworth Park, Anacostia Park, Poplar Point, and elsewhere.

WHERE WE STAND

Bridging communities is a central tenet of CRYSP’s mission—using sports and recreation to connect people and communities, especially youth. We believe that every resident has the right to respect, safety, and opportunity.

Black lives matter.

Donate to CRYSP DC

For its first nine years, CRYSP DC advocated for field space on Capitol Hill. Now we are the contracted operator of The Fields, which are owned by Events DC. And we are still committed to creating even more play spaces, and to making sports play a central part of life on Capitol Hill, for youth and adults. Your support can help us realize this vision.
